Cadbury-owner Mondelēz has partnered with packaging solution Saica Group to develop a new recyclable paper-base packing solution for multipacks.
The new paper packaging will be for products like confectionery, biscuits, and chocolate, and will be designed to be recycled through the paper waste stream.
It has been developed to meet sustainability standards set by the Confederation of European Paper (CEPI) and will aid the confectionery brand in meeting its goals of reducing virgin plastic use by 25% in rigid plastic and 5% across all packaging by 2025.

This will further support Mondelēz’s wider sustainable packaging strategy to use less plastic and make 98% of its packaging recyclable by 2025.
“We believe that packaging sustainability is a very serious challenge that required our full commitment and far-reaching collaborations with companies equally committed, like Mondelēz,” said Saica Flex general manager Miguel Angel Dora.
“Our ambition to make Saica’s flexible monomaterial structures, including paper, is a key aspect to achieve all these goals. We hope that, by 2025, 100% of our flexible packaging offer is recyclable so that we can contribute towards a truly circular economy,” he added.
Mondelēz launchws new packaging across its Cadbury Dairy Milk and Cadbury Mini Snowballs sharing bars in 2022 to include 30% certified recycled plastic.
