Aldi is set to open 24 new stores before Christmas as part of its rapid UK expansion programme.

The company, which currently operates 1,092 stores, is planning to open or relocate almost 30 locations over the next 10 weeks  to extend its reach into more communities.

New stores will open across locations including Bishop’s Cleeve in Gloucestershire, Malton in North Yorkshire, Orpington, Ashford, Newport in South Wales and Newport on the Isle of Wight.

Further openings are planned for Basildon, Matlock, Wimborne, Stepney Green, Orrell, Dumbarton, Stourport-on-Severn, Epsom, Wellington and Hattersley.

It will also launch branches in Hanworth, Willesden, Longbridge, Waterlooville, Egremont, Lower Gornal, Driffield and Chatham before the festive period.

Alongside the 24 new stores, Aldi will relocate its existing branches in Sudbury, Sutton Coldfield and Wigan before the end of the year.

Aldi is continuing to invest heavily in its UK estate. It recently unveiled plans to invest a record £900m in new stores and distribution centres across Britain next year.

The expansion follows a rise in annual sales, with Aldi reporting turnover of £19bn for the 12 months to 31 December 2025, up five per cent year on year.

Aldi UK and Ireland chief executive Giles Hurley said: “We’re working hard to make good food more affordable for every family – cutting prices on everyday essentials, signing long-term supplier agreements to help increase home-grown production, and continuing to bring affordable groceries to even more communities through our store opening programme.

“This is why more customers are buying more products at Aldi – our relentless focus on simple, everyday low prices and award-winning quality.”
