HelloFresh hits milestone with 10m meals donated to The Felix Project

HelloFresh has donated 10 million meals to its long-term charity partner The Felix Project, which supports people experiencing food insecurity across Greater London.

The recipe box firm works with the charity to help feed the one in 10 families in Greater London who have less than £3 a day to spend on breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the ongoing partnership also helps HelloFresh towards its mission to eliminate food waste.

The meal kit company’s employees support The Felix Project by regularly volunteering at the charity’s depot in Poplar and at a farm in Kent during fruit harvests, while HelloFresh encourages its customers to play their part by providing the option to donate £1 when selecting their weekly recipes.

So far, this has resulted in over £120,000 in donations from UK customers since 2020.

HelloFresh UK CEO Adam Park said: “There is enough surplus food produced in the UK to avoid food insecurity for everyone but unfortunately, much of it goes to landfill or anaerobic digestion.

“We’re incredibly proud to have worked with The Felix Project since 2017 to serve over 10 million meals to those who don’t have access to nutritious food, while also reducing food waste in the UK. We’re incredibly passionate about this mission, and we look forward to supporting many more families through this partnership.”

The Felix Project head of food supply Richard Smith added: “Times are incredibly challenging for so many at the moment. This has meant all of the organisations we serve have seen an increase in demand for their services and all of them are desperate for more food.

“Time and time again we hear The Felix Project provides a lifeline to so many, but we would not be able to do what we do without the food, and for that we rely on our suppliers. That is why I am so grateful to HelloFresh for everything they give, it is quite simply vital.”
