Spar becomes official cricket sponsor

A.F. Blakemore, the wholesaler for Spar stores in Wales, has become the official partner for Glamorgan Cricket.

As an official partner, Spar’s logo will be displayed on the back of the sport’s team shirt for the next two cricket seasons, 2024 and 2025.

A.F. Blakemore group marketing director Sarah Ellis said: “We are thrilled to partner with Glamorgan Cricket, a team that embodies teamwork, dedication and passion – values that resonate deeply with our business.

“This sponsorship not only allows us to support the team but also aligns with our mission to nurture our neighbourhoods through the power of sport.

“The partnership will demonstrate Spar’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles through sport and we wish Glamorgan Cricket every success over the next two years.”

Glamorgan cricket head of commercial Ed Rice added: “We are delighted to welcome A.F. Blakemore and Spar to the Glamorgan Cricket family as an official partner,”

“They are a business which shares our community values and we’re looking forward to working closely with them to grow cricket in Wales. Their support is invaluable, and we are proud to wear the Spar logo on the back of our playing shirts as we aim for success in the upcoming season.”

The symbol group‘s sponsorship comes on the back of a successful year for the retailer in the UK, despite its global profits plummeting.

International profits plunged 47% in 2023, however sales in Ireland and southwest England jumped 8.1% as the division made £773.3m over the year to 30 September.
